Christopher L. Holoman serves as the 31st president of Centenary College of Louisiana, the oldest private liberal arts college west of the Mississippi. Since assuming the Centenary presidency in 2016, Holoman has led the creation and implementation of two strategic plans, a new campus Master Plan, a new mission statement, several significant improvements to the campus, and the introduction of new academic majors and concentrations and six new intercollegiate sports, including the reintroduction of football after a 75-year absence. The College has also entered numerous academic partnerships to facilitate student matriculation to graduate studies.

 

Holoman has been active in several national higher education organizations, including the Council of Independent Colleges, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Associated Colleges of the South, and the North American Association of Methodist Schools, Colleges, and Universities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for NAMSCU, the Accountability Committee of NAICU, and the University Senate of the United Methodist Church. He also serves on several non-profit boards in the Shreveport area.

 

After beginning his faculty career at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Holoman moved to Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY, where he served first as a faculty member and later as provost.

 

Holoman holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina and Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago. His scholarly work is in international political economy focusing on theories of international cooperation, especially in monetary policy.

 

Chris and his wife, Connie, have two married adult daughters and three grandchildren.
